Looks like we have something a bit fun and different for you all today. Here is a trailer for the new film, Branded starring Ed Stoppard, Leelee Sobieski, Jeffrey Tambor, and Max von Sydow:

Here is a synopsis for the movie:

Branded (which stars Ed Stoppard, Leelee Sobieski, Jeffrey Tambor, and Max von Sydow) is set in a surreal, dystopian society where mega corporations have unleashed a monstrous global conspiracy to get inside our minds and keep the population disillusioned, dependent and passive. One man, however, is finally able to see the aliens behind the scheme. His quest to unlock the truth behind the conspiracy will lead to an epic battle with the hidden forces that really control our world.  Branded is in theaters September 7th.

So, the reason I’m posting this is that it is a very interesting trailer. The movie is beginning to remind me of a cross between They Live and V, but with less lizards and more anthropomorphic Coca-Cola bottles. The CGI in the trailer is a bit rough, but nothing too terrible. For conspiracy theorist types, and fans of the genre, it looks like an entertaining sci-fi romp.

My big gripe for the trailer is the use of QR codes. I know this is something they’ve hyped up via the trailer and that it is becoming a popular advertising tool, but the way it comes across in the trailer is very heavy-handed. Still, the codes do lead to some interesting additional content for the movie, so pause the trailer and check them out if you have time.

Branded is in theaters September 7th.
